Chicago PMI: release dates, results and history
Chicago PMI last printed 58.8 on Wed, Sep 30, 2026 against a 51.2 consensus forecast and a 47.1 prior, a +1.9 standard-deviation surprise. Captured live by Helious the moment it printed.
Chicago is the oldest of the purchasing manager surveys, and historically the best single region for calling ISM manufacturing. Its panel leans toward large national firms. It prints on the last business day of the month it covers, one or two sessions ahead of ISM, so a big surprise resets the ISM whispers on the spot. Subscribers get it three minutes early, and that is why the tape sometimes moves before the public stamp.
The trend
How it moves Treasuries
A beat here is modestly bearish Treasuries, and it pulls ISM expectations up with it. When the move starts at 9:42, that is the early-access copy reaching the tape rather than random chop. See it scored live on the Helious desk, or read how the standard-deviation surprise is computed.
